That feeling when you are making comics is…
Found more previous sketches and ideas on MANSLAUGHTER on my drives to show (ABOVE) and pen sketches in previous Sketchbooks this year (BELOW)
Just to get the ball rolling.
The bio-mechanical feel is something I keep trying to find in my lines and drawings. It’s hard because it can go from “Oh cool” to “wtf is that?” pretty quickly.
As I go, writing and sketch she’s getting her to look down, and I’m streamlining her a bit more every time. I wanted to work around her mode and her body and have some scenes that will be… loquacious to say the least.
Been doing a lot of research for the book too. I find it a great way to add flavor, give something mass when you find all the ways it can relate to this world. Between the legend of the GOLEM, Pinocchio’s fairy tale, and the idea of what is Artificial Intelligence, there is a lot to grab onto and a lot that can grab onto you.
That being said you can get bogged down in so many ways with the story, details that give nothing and take everything, and can even derail what you are trying to accomplish. I was told once 80% of the writing, great writing, it is editing. But the outlines have me looking out in space. I’m already pulling stuff out thinking “Nah for the next issue!” what the hell is wrong with me?
But I think I have the basic frame down. Now to start measuring where the bolts go.
So next week I hope to have a total outline is done for you guys to see, plus more final concepts.
Till then, be good.
