As I was laying out yesterday on FWACATA.com about getting back on my feet, it’s good to face Monday with some wind in my sails.
I hope to have some exclusives later this week for the blog and behind-the-scenes stuff for the subscribers. Maybe a video. Hmmm.
Anyway, I want to tell you about some stuff I have in line for FWACATA ANTHOLOGY #2. #1 went swimmingly and just got another batch in to finish their orders. Thank you all for being patient. If you didn’t know, the first run sold out at Supercon, and now I’m pushing to get this 2nd run done so a variant can be done for the 1st one. If you want to read it, you have your chance to DRIVE THRU COMICS and now AMAZON! Whoo!
I’m jamming out on some more sketch covers for people who supported the book, so maybe that's what I’ll post on Thursday? Hmmm.
One thing I’m working towards is the first install of H00D, a story I’ve had in my back pocket for a bit.
H00D
HIGH CONCEPT:
In a post-apocalyptic world run down by war and desolation comes to a legend comes back to help those in need. What drives this man to help the oppressed against bay hordes of death and destruction?
Who said it was even Human?
THE STORY:
Humanity has lost. All the horror said to us happened. Ragnarok, Revelations, apocalypse, all of them happened. What is left is can barely weep. The world is rape and blood, death and fire, screams for miles. In all of this, his humanity goes into a shell of itself.
Until a girl sees a flower from afar, wandering all she has known hurts and finds amongst the dirt and ash, beauty comes through. As she reaches, a blur appears, and her hand explodes. She screams. Recoiling back, holding her stump, she looks up to see Skinner standing afar, barbarian bikers laughing.
"The bet was for her nose to be shot off now her hand!"
"Ha, I couldn't resist as she reached for that flower."
Raising their guns, they see who can pick off her eyes.
As she looks at her incoming death, one of the Skinners chokes on his words as an arrow sticking out of his neck. The Skinners look bewildered as that last crumbles to the ground, gurgling blood. They see a hooded figure among the rock ahead, seemingly knocking another arrow.
Skinners return fire, and the hooded figure moves forward with alarming speed. Skinner B says, "I'm hitting, but he ain't going down!"
The hooded figure lets out two arrows. One hits Skinner B right in the head, outright killing him. Skinner C is shot in the arm, dropping his gun, and he runs.
Before he can make it 200 feet, the hooded man is in front of him, grabs his wounded arm, and Skinner scream and cuts it off. He pleads, and The Hood can only point to the girl with missing fingers. The man pleads before the skinner can finish, and the hooded figure produces a blade through the head. The man quivers and then dies. The Hood turns to the girl, and the girl looks back.
"That's when I joined."
The same image, but now the girl is a woman around a campfire with others telling how she joined the Merry Men.
VISUALS:
Mad Max meets Robocop in this thriller told by those who have witnessed hood in action but has visuals akin to the Robin Hood Animated movies with Mad Max Fury road. Very Ashley wood style, I think, at one point.
So this may be done all digital going forward, hopefully. I have pencils done and will finish on the laptop for the tone and to get my digital on.
Let me see how this week goes, and I’ll have something for you guys Thursday for the Subscribers!
