Originally, I was going to post “Ugh, I can hear you getting fatter” line from TOMMY BOY that running in my head, as Thanksgiving came to a close, I felt my mass getting larger. Geez, for once I had a traditional Thanksgiving food (turkey, stuffing, yams, etc) that I liked! Good times. I hope you enjoy yours and maybe my rambling on the podcast helped in that.
Hello, from El Paso, it’s been an interesting week getting some stuff done and also waiting for some things to happen! Remember folks, you only get your money from a Kickstarter TWO WEEKS after it ends. I didn’t know that, so I have been twirling my fingers waiting to pull triggers on various things from that. It’s annoying of course but at least it would have been nice to do this when I’m NOT working. This next week we go back at it.
The cold is setting in. It’s currently 40 or so degrees, and we’ve already had to prep for frost on the plant outside, buying some covers and bringing other plants in.

ABOVE: working on FWACATA #2 and decided it’s gonna get a whole lot worse before it gets a whole lot better, decided to redraw the previous Meathook story I sorted out a while back. https://www.patreon.com/posts/fwacata-2-report-77522617 In the end it’s a good thing really, as the story will be stronger and until I get full reign of what I can do digitally, I don’t want to put any of that work out yet. I do have my eyes on the XPPen Artist 22R pro-Computer Graphics Tablet so let's see if Santa brings me this! I may have put up past pages and some previous stuff on that post. It’s going to be a 3 part story or so dealing with gamma-radiated cocaine and superpowers drug dealers. Fun.
ABOVE: Here’s a clear look at the page I was working on, which I’m pretty damn proud of:
This was on Cartoonist Kayfabe recently:
In the realm of comic artistry, few creators captivate with the same dynamic energy and insightful prowess as Paul Pope. For me, he stands as a monumental influence, not merely due to his jaw-dropping artistic talent, but also because of his innovative approach to storytelling formats. Much like Prince in the music world, Pope carves his path, defying the conventions of rank-and-file comic artists. His avant-garde spirit shines through in every pen stroke, creating a unique visual language that sets him apart. Pope's work is a testament to the deep reservoir of love he pours into his craft. It's more than just art; it's a masterful symphony conducted with ink and paper. His ability to seamlessly meld format and inks reflects a thoughtful and meticulous approach to storytelling. Each panel is a carefully crafted piece of a larger narrative puzzle, drawing readers into a world where every detail is infused with meaning. This commitment to his art, this undeniable love, makes diving into Paul Pope's creations an immersive and unforgettable experience. If you haven't enjoyed exploring Paul Pope's body of work, I urge you to seize the opportunity. His portfolio is a rich tapestry of creativity that spans genres and themes, offering a diverse array of stories that showcase the true breadth of his talent. Whether you're a seasoned comic enthusiast or a newcomer to the medium, Pope's work is a masterclass in pushing the boundaries of what comic art can achieve. Prepare to be enthralled, inspired, and utterly captivated by the unparalleled brilliance of Paul Pope.

ABOVE: NEW SKETCHBOOK
I’m glad I’m back to filling sketchbooks. That’s when I feel like I’m growing the most when I have a rhythm going and draw every day. A page a day keeps the mediocrity away.
ABOVE: Beginning of "PARADISE LOST 5" I’m doing for a client.
It’s been fun to paint again but it’s like trying to do jumping jacks in a coffin, to say the least. Between the cold and the holiday mud blood, it’s hard to keep it going for long, but it’s amazing how much it thrills me to paint. I have 3 big commissions I have to finish and get out too, so this will be a hard week of drawing for sure.
PODCAST:
I have been offline on the podcast as holiday time has taken a lot of my time, However, I imagine once I get back at it, I will try to make up for 2 episodes I’m missing and do a bonus episode too. I have been writing for surest I have plenty to gab about soon.
WRITING
From the current novel I’m working on here and there:
“Dino Watson went through life with gritted teeth. Born a dwarf and ugly, he knew only too well that life was wall-to-wall shit. He made no qualms about it, danced around it, and did what he could to not see it. But all the while, his jaw was clenched.
He had one thing that helped him and hindered him. He was smart as fuck. He saw things nobody else could, and put things together no one else can, but since he figure most people were dumber than lacquered shit, he figured it wasn’t that much of a gift to get through the day.
He did have a good-sized penis so that helped too, and when in the bedroom with a woman and they get that hesitant look now that they are alone with the dwarf, it was his fashionable cock that gave things reprieve and eased them into sexual acts that we may get into later but not right now.
Now so this is a story of a man of shit size, huge intellect, a nice cock, dragging a body bag across desert sands. Yes, this is where we’ll begin for now.
His fingernails were getting bent back as he pulled that damn thing, it sliding across the sand, but 285 pounds of meat in a bag, is 285 pounds of meat in a bag, no matter who fucking tells you. Big awkward and heavy to him it was the perfect metaphor of life of the world of all the shit that bothered him. He chuckled a bit because of course, he made this mess, he could’ve walked away, he could’ve just let it be but he knew that if there was one thing he was never going to allow in his life was regret.
Regret.
It’s the one emotion you can’t do anything about.
If you love someone you kiss them, hug them, hold them, tell them.
If you hate someone you punch them kick them or in this case shoot them in the fucking face.
But regret? All you can do is feel it in your bones feel it in the pit of your stomach as you look to the distance and have crawled up to your brain and all you’ll have is tears as you do.
Nah that wasn’t Watson’s bag.
No, his bag was a fat fuck asshole who got tough when he didn’t need to and got in a way of a very sweaty man doing something very fucking stupid.
He got far enough, pulled the folding shovel out of his bag, and started to dig. Again he began to chuckle.”
THOUGHTS
https://nextdoor.com/
Been using this lately in El Paso just to see about sales and free crap ( never know when you’ll need a shelf or something, or somebody selling comics!) and found it to be quite fascinating. I think it’s almost a better Social Media platform than anything else because it deals with the area you LIVE IN which is more needed than anything. I think this could be an amazing tool to get communities moving and talking, maybe even mobilizing versus bullshit. This could be such a huge cure for the apathy that’s out there.
Other than that, I had to take some time to rest a bit. I’ve been working my ass off behind the scenes like crazy, and been at work hard for a while now. Always give yourself time. I see the holiday rush and the shopping ridiculousness give yourself the greatest gift of all: peace of mind by giving yourself some time. Go outside, barefoot, and feel the ground close your eyes and feel the world turn, and know you are a part of it.
